SI (Spanish Immersion) Program the benefits of homeschooling + the power of an immersion education
SI Program Class Year 1 is for new students.
SI Program Class Year 2 is for students who were enrolled in this class for the 2023-24 school year.
**Ages: Elementary-aged, especially 1st-5th due to the emphasis on reading and writing.
**This class is for students who are newer to the language and/or not yet readers and writers in Spanish.
**This class meets twice per week. The expectation is that students will attend both days of class. This increased contact time will allow students to reach deeper levels of language learning as they work towards bilingualism and biliteracy. The instructor is a former Spanish Immersion fulltime classroom teacher (15 years of experience). While all of our classes are taught immersion-style, this class will more closely reflect how the literacy (reading and writing) part of the school day looks in traditional Spanish Immersion programs in public/private schools.
**Due to the increased contact time involved with this class, the pricing structure looks different compared to our other class offerings. See the Pricing Information section for more information.

High School Spanish
High School Year 1 is for students who are new to the language.
High School Year 2 is for students who have taken Spanish in the past but would like to grow in confidence with present tense verb conjugation before moving onto the past tense later in the year.
*Ages: 9th-12th grades, but middle schoolers who are ready for a more formalized class setting are welcome to join as well.
**No previous language experience is required but will certainly be embraced!
**This class will help give students a foundation in Spanish vocabulary and grammar as they work towards becoming conversationally fluent. Instruction is a blend of traditional grammar lessons partnered with Comprehensible Input - older learners often appreciate the concrete nature of grammar lessons while Comprehensible Input puts those grammar points into context, which is where the real magic of learning another language takes place as students USE the language! English support will be provided as needed but kept to a minimum as much as possible.

Calendar for the 2024-25 School Year
*Fall Semester: September 9 - December 6. No class the week of November 26.
*Winter/Spring Semester: January 6 - May 2. No class the week of March 31.
*We encourage families to sign up for the entire school year due to the way language acquisition works but do allow semester-only registrations in special circumstances.
*We often offer special Holiday Classes during the month of December for those families who desire to continue with the weekly class schedule during the holiday season. Otherwise, we find that our families enjoy the extended break during the busyness of the holidays.
*In the case of inclement weather, we typically close if West Ottawa Public Schools is closed. That said, if the roads get cleared in time for our classes and if families feel safe venturing out, there is the possibility of still meeting. One snow day is built into our calendar. If there are additional snow days, we will make them up in May.
